Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter: Level Two

July 14-15, 2008 (Duluth, MN)

This is a two-day advanced training for men's nonviolence class facilitators. Participants must have previously attended the three-day training Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter and have been using the curriculum in a men's nonviolence program for at least one year.

This training discusses the theoretical framework and methodology for working with men who batter using the Duluth Model curriculum.

The training is interactive and process-orientated and includes the following topics:

  • Establishing an honest dialog in a men's class
  • Finding the "teachable moment"
  • The dynamics of co-facilitation
  • Participating in and observing simulated classes
  • Networking with other experienced facilitators
  • Evaluating your skills in selecting themes
  • Learning new exercises that compliment the control log.
